Welcome to Reflexology Week

To celebrate World Reflexology Week Angela is offering a £10 discount off Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage sessions until the end of October 2017. Now only £20 for a 45-60 minute treatment which includes a lower leg and foot massage as well!

Reflexology is based on the principle that every organ and system of the body has a corresponding point in the feet. Pressure is used on these points to help release energy blockages, boost circulation and promote healing of the body and mind.

What is Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD), how can it help me?

RLD is a fairly new technique used to stimulate specific lymphatic reflexes on the feet or hands. The technique was developed by researcher/reflexologist Sally Kay in 2011 to help with the management of secondary lymphoedema in patients affected by treatment for breast cancer.

Angela is involved with the ongoing research exploring the use of the RLD technique as a precision treatment for the reduction of lymphoedema, swelling of the arm following treatment for breast cancer.

Research also suggests that RLD may be useful with other conditions including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, allergies, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory auto-immune disorders. Click to find out more about RLD  or RLD research

What is the function of the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is a network of very small vessels that drain lymph fluid from all over the body.  The main function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body.

The lymphatic system interacts with three other body systems: cardiovascular system, digestive system an immune system so it is vital our lymphatic system is in balance. RLD aims to stimulate the function of the lymphatic system and drain excess lymph that may have accumulated in the body due to faulty genes, infection, injury, cancer treatment, inflammation of the limb, or a lack of limb movement.

What happens during a treatment?

After a consultation to discuss your medical history and current state of health, your feet will be worked on while you relax in a reclining position on the couch. A general treatment will be given to optimise wellbeing, Angela will the work on the relevant lymphatic reflex points to ensure you receive a personalised treatment.
