Have you ever looked around a room and thought to yourself “That person over there doesn’t like me”. You might be reading body language, but you might also be thinking to yourself that you know what the other person is thinking. This form of thinking is dysfunctional and often causes people to be paranoid and prevents connection with others, as there is a fear that a person is often thinking bad thoughts about you. This is the mind reading thinking trap.
The mind reading thinking trap is sometimes learned in childhood as a way of protecting ourselves. If other people have told you that you are paranoid or imagining things, or you feel you might be imagining things, please get in touch as counselling can help you develop strategies to manage this disordered way of thinking.
